I believe in holistic wellness that addresses the whole person. Because of this, I run my practice based on 5 Domains of Wellness that I think capture the most important aspects of health. I will touch on each of these categories with each client, while spending extra time focusing in on the domain(s) most important for each person.
SOCIAL
This domain focuses on our interactions with others and promoting healthy relationships. We might discuss friends, family, etc. and how to communicate and interact effectively with the people around us.
EMOTIONAL
This domain emphasizes emotion acceptance and regulation. We may talk about situations that are challenging and how we can express authentic, yet appropriate reactions. Most importantly, we will discuss how to use holistic health to help us feel happier and more fulfilled every day.
COGNITIVE
This domain focuses on the connection between our thoughts, beliefs, and overall well-being. We may explore patterns of thinking, self-talk, decision-making, attention, and the ways we respond to stress and challenges. We can also discuss academic or professional concerns, with the goal of developing greater self-awareness, flexibility, and confidence in navigating everyday life.
ENVIRONMENTAL
This domain focuses on how our surroundings impact our mental and emotional well-being. We may explore how your home, work, school, community, and daily environment contribute to feelings of stress, safety, comfort, or connection. Together, we can identify ways to create surroundings and routines that better support your overall well-being.
PHYSICAL
The mind-body connection is essential in managing holistic health. This domain will focus on how to strengthen and maintain physical wellbeing and connect it to lasting overall wellness.
